There are two types of people in this world: People who love scary movies with reckless abandon, and those who have to watch a toddler-approved, G-rated movie after any slightly terrifying film if they want to fall asleep at night. Thankfully, for the people who fall somewhere in the middle — they like scary movies, but don't want to be traumatized — there are plenty of scary movies for kids that will give you all the spooky feels without a night of horrifying nightmares.
While many of these kid-friendly films double as Disney Halloween movies for kids, and thus would be great to play at the end of a Halloween party, these scary family-friendly movies are enjoyable at any time of the year. From timeless classics like The Goonies to Pixar favorites, like Monsters, Inc., to new releases like Disney's new 101 Dalmatians prequel, Cruella, there's something on this list that every scary movie buff is sure to love.
While there are a number of family outdoor activities to choose from, DIY kids crafts to enjoy, and family-friendly games to partake in, sometimes the best evening is as simple as a night in with a kid-friendly scary movie (or two) that won't have you worrying about those bumps in the night.
